Digital Minimalism
Technology has hijacked our minds and bloody hell does it feel like a constant uphill battle despite being aware.
While my previous post Digital Freedom was in more relation to freedom in terms of privacy, hardware and software, I do realize that the most important aspect of both digital freedom and digital minimalism is our minds. Even if I 100% owned the computer (hardware and software), 100% understood the computer, 100% could controll the computer to only do what I would want it to do - it all wouldn't matter if my mind was still a slave to it.
How are you being careful about how much you are letting tech occupying your precious mental space?
How do you utilize tech with more intention and purpose?
Would love to know how you all tackle this, please feel free to let me know.
One thing I have started to become less dependant on technology is analog habits.
Another thing I have recently started doing is not to consume any content fed to me by the algorithm, no matter how much I believe it may be of my best interest. Very few times does the algorithm bless me with content that would prove to be of much value. For those few times that I do stumble upon such content, I write it down for later in order to be more intentional with my content consumption.
Only consuming content that I searched for has saved me a lot of mental space that previously was occupied with meaningless, cheap entertainment.
